Commercial Vehicle & Dangerous Goods Licensing
Protect Your Drivers. Protect Your Business.
Having your employees commercial driver assessment undertaken by a provider who is not familiar with the current “Fitness to Drive” standards can put your drivers at risk.
Being fully up to date with the current guidelines, Harbour Road Medical assess all drivers in a consistent manner.
Harbour Road Medical is experienced in conducting Commercial Vehicle and Dangerous Goods Assessments in accordance with the national Medical Standards Assessing Fitness to Drive updated in March 2016.
In simple terms, our assessment ensures that the holder of a Queensland drivers license does not have a mental or physical medical condition that will adversely affect their ability to drive safely.
In some instances, this may also require a heart risk assessment.
The primary reasons for conducting such an assessment are to increase road safety for all, by ensuring the driver can adequately perform the complex tasks required when driving a heavy vehicle, such as :
- ability to perceive and judge distances, times, speed
- adequate response times, and
- appropriate physical capability for the vehicle
The applicant will be given the original Medical Certificate for Motor Vehicle Driver at the completion of the examination to take to the Queensland Department of Transport.
Common Medical conditions that may have been poorly controlled can lead to traffic incidents. These may include:
- Diabetes
- High Blood Pressure
- Heart Conditions
- Epilepsy
- Vision
Other factors to consider include:
- Alcohol
- Medication
- Hearing
